Business Challenge

An injectable product for the treatment of a specialist-treated, chronic condition had strong clinical evidence supporting its superiority in a specific clinical endpoint – the significance of which was just beginning to be understood by the medical community. As no generally accepted treatment guidelines existed that supported a preferred placement of this product in the treatment paradigm, payors were reluctant to provide preferred formulary access to this product or to institute management measures that would encourage its use.

Understanding that in areas of medical or clinical ambiguity, managed market payers rely heavily on the input and opinions of regional experts, Strategyx facilitated the development of regional-expert consensus statements utilizing a proprietary methodology developed specifically for consensus deliberations. The resulting consensus position, including reviews of compelling clinical data, proposed "care path" and implications to physician practice and category cost, was approved by all meeting participants and distributed to regionally significant payors, under the letter head of the meeting chairmen.
