Business Challenge

A mid-tier European-based pharmaceutical manufacturer was in the process of transitioning from a company founded on out-licensing and joint ventures to one grounded in its ability to develop and market top-selling products. Its leadership team was committed to making the company a world leader in the pharmaceutical market, and recognized the need to move the company in a direction that would effectively prepare it to support a large and promising pipeline of innovative products. Strategyx was engaged to:

  • Assist the managed care group to define their role in engaging a variety of organized customers
  • Develop a managed care strategy that would leverage in-line and pipeline products and maximize returns within key payer/provider segments
  • Create an actionable implementation plan for achieving the strategic goals

Strategyx Solution
A multi-phased approach was employed to ensure all components of the managed care strategy were grounded in internal and external market knowledge and supported by actionable implementation and communication plans. In addition to periods of research, assessment, and reporting, a senior management task force was chartered and was included in each phase to provide a forum for key personnel to assess, formulate, validate, and refine the components of the strategy.
